Christine VanZandt has worked at the Fairfax Christian School since 2012. She teaches Advanced Second and regular Third Grade.
Her three children have all attended FCS. Her eldest, Caitlyn, graduated in 2014; Audrey is part of the Class of 2016; and Erik will receive his diploma in 2017.
Mrs. VanZandt actively involves each of her students during class. She encourages them to ask questions when they need help and to take part in class discussions and activities. The positive atmosphere in her classroom draws out the quiet students and encourages teamwork.
“I enjoy teaching because each year is an adventure,” says Mrs. VanZandt. “It is both challenging and rewarding to reach every child academically and spiritually. I believe it is my job to create excitement about learning and to help each student reach their full potential.”
The small class sizes at FCS give Mrs. VanZandt and other teachers time to work with students who need help. It also allows them to do class projects which require more one-on-one attention. “It is a true blessing to be able to incorporate God’s teachings in our classrooms.”
