Teacher Feature: Miss Lorene A. Ward
Lorene Ward started as assistant director in 2011, then moved to Academic Director for Lower and Middle School students. After 14 months of teaching English at
Al Qassim University in Saudi Arabia, she returned to FCS as Academic Director in July 2014.
Miss Ward is our college counselor, assisting students with academic challenges. Her duties include coordinating AP and PSAT testing. She is also responsible for class scheduling. As part of the academic team, she conducts tours for domestic High School students. Additionally, she uses her experience as an overseas English teacher to lead other teachers in curriculum development for our ESL program.
Assisting in the college application process is one of Miss Ward’s favorite duties. She enjoys working one-on-one with our seniors, helping them apply to universities and colleges. She takes pride in writing letters of recommendation that highlight each student’s strengths, talents, dreams and goals for the future.
What sets the Fairfax Christian School apart is the overarching sense of community. Our staff works together to give students the best education experience. We share a commitment to learning focused on truth and traditional values. Miss Ward appreciates this atmosphere as unique to FCS.
“I enjoy working as part of a Christian community,” says Miss Ward. “At FCS, we strive every day to help students to reach their highest potential in a way that glorifies God.”
