Student Recruitment Resources

Welcome to the Fairfax Christian School information page for student recruitment. The Fairfax Christian School is a kindergarten through 12th grade university–prep school located in the Washington, D.C., metro area. We accept international students from age 5 through 20.  Students age 12 and above can participate in our homestay boarding program. Younger students must live with their family members in the area.

The Fairfax Christian School also offers a year–13 program, where students can prepare for U.S. universities and earn a high school diploma.

Admissions Process

Because The Fairfax Christian School is in the Washington, D.C., area, we often have international students from local embassies, the World Bank, the IMF, the UN as well as children of employees of international businesses in the D.C., area. We accept international students 11 months a year (July through May) and have a rolling admissions program. Most students start at the beginning of a semester or quarter or begin with our intensive English programs in July and August.

Here are the steps for our admissions process:

1. Submit a completed application, proof of financial support and student records. Include a transcript of student grades and all test scores available. Teacher recommendations, SSAT and TOEFL scores are not required, but useful in evaluating the student.

Test Codes:

SSATB: 3099
TOEFL: 9532

2. If the school believes the student may be an acceptable student, a Skype or WeChat interview is held with the student and parents.
3. After the interview, if the student is accepted, the $850 registration fee is paid and the I–20 is issued.

This process can be done in under two weeks. However, space is limited and we strongly recommend application be turned in four to six months before the start date. Contact our admissions office to find out if there is space before submitting the application.

Admissions Requirements

Students should have the minimum of a "B" average and no behavioral issues from previous schools.

Students do not need to know English. However, students who have not taken the TOEFL or with a TOEFL iBT score less than 90 will be placed in Intensive English (ESL) classes. The Fairfax Christian School offers ESL classes from beginning levels through TOEFL prep.  Students are tested once they arrive at the school and are placed at the appropriate levels in reading, writing and speech.

Over twenty percent of our international students transfer in from another US high school that did not provide the curriculum and support they needed as an international student. These students may transfer into the Fairfax Christian School anytime during the school year.
