Academic Success

Academic Success, our after-school study hall program for middle and high school students, provides a quiet place for students to study with access to teachers and administrators. Faculty are available to answer questions, tutor, help with organizational skills and give the extra support some students need to succeed.

Academic Success meets Monday through Thursday until 4:30 pm.

 Mentors

The Fairfax Christian School develops young leaders. We strive to accomplish this through many different avenues, and student mentoring is a key component in this process with peer-to-peer and teacher/student mentoring. Mentors are carefully matched with students according to their interests, backgrounds, needs, classes and activities.

 NILD Programs

NILD builds competence and confidence in all learners. Our one-on-one and small group learning programs helps students work through learning difficulties. The International Dyslexia Association has endorsed NILD programs for students with reading difficulties. These programs are supplemental, and are covered by a separate fee.

NILD Discovery™

  • Individualized intervention program for students who need extra attention to learn to their full potential

Search and Teach™

  • An early identification scanning instrument for children 5 and 6 years of age.  The Search scan content is designed to survey perceptual and neuropsychological functions basic to learning.  Search provides a total score to access vulnerability to reading difficulty.

  • All Kindergartners are scanned starting in October.

Rx for Discovery Reading™

  • Designed to meet the needs of struggling readers in the elementary grades.  Activities provide instruction in the five areas of reading instruction: phonological processing, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension development.
