Travel Tips

For International Students

We want to make sure all of our students have a pleasant experience traveling and strongly recommend you follow the suggestions below.

  • ALWAYS travel with an up-to-date signed I-20 form that will not expire while you are out of the country.

  • Staple your I-20 form inside your passport.

  • Request airline assistance for Passport Control. Most major airlines will provide staff to walk students through the Passport Control area and help with any issues.

  • Always travel with the school telephone number, 703-759-5100, and the mobile phone numbers for Mrs. Jo Thoburn, 703-909-4070, and Miss Rosemary Thoburn, 703-909-5880. They will be able to assist Passport Control if there are any problems and confirm your attendance at the Fairfax Christian School.

  • Make sure that you know the contents of your luggage.

  • Confirm all I-20 fees are paid.

  • Remember, new students can only enter the country 30 days before the start of school.

  • When possible, avoid international flights which land in the afternoon. This is the busiest time for Passport Control at Washington-Dulles International Airport.
