Meet Our Faculty & Staff
Our highly educated and diverse faculty meets the needs of the individual student, instills virtue and creates scholars.
Dr. Margaret Bickers has always enjoyed driving, both professionally and for recreation. She likes interacting with students during her morning and afternoon routes as part of our To-Your-Door bus service. Dr. Bickers holds a Ph.D. in Child Psychology.
Mr. Elwyn Darden joined the Fairfax Christian School faculty in January 2012. He teaches Mathematics, Physics, Government and History. He is also the faculty advisor to the FCS Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, the National Math Honor Society. Mr. Darden has had an extensive career in Public Policy, having served with Army Civil Works, the U.S. Department of Education, a Senate Committee staff and a Congressional office. He served as Assistant Secretary of Natural Resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as staff assistant to the then Minority Leader of the House of Delegates. He worked for five years as a lobbyist for the National Association of Manufacturers and for two years as Field Director for a polling firm. He has worked professionally in more than 40 political campaigns. Mr. Darden has his B.A. degree in History from the University of Virginia. He attends Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, LCMS where he participates in the Tuesday Evening Small Group and the Men’s Ministry. He served for 10 years on the board of the Virginia Society for Human Life.
Mrs. Grace Cuelez Droblas joined the faculty at the Fairfax Christian School in the fall of 2018. She and her husband, Steve, joined the FCS family in 2016 when they enrolled their daughter in fourth grade. Mrs. Droblas has over 20 years of experience and achievement in the sciences. Mrs. Droblas earned her undergraduate degree in Biological Science at Florida International University where she was a Faculty Scholar and has a Master’s in Biomedical Science from Florida Atlantic University (FAU). She, her husband and daughter are members of the Washington, D.C. International Christian Church, they also lead a Bible discussion group for the church in the Herndon area.
Mr. Eric Duncanson joined FCS in 2010. He directs our fine arts department at FCS. He earned his B.A. in Music and his M. Ed. from Southeastern University in Florida. His master’s program focused on curriculum development and arts integration. He has developed curriculum for the music courses at FCS. He attends Evergreen Church in Leesburg with his wife and two children, and he serves as the worship leader there.
Elinor R. Fischer
Miss Elinor Fischer has been on the faculty of the Fairfax Christian School since 2010. She is a graduate of Wheaton College, where she obtained a degree in Anthropology with a minor in Applied Music. She is also a graduate of Moody Bible Institute with a degree in Christian Education and Applied Music. She completed advanced studies in French at Université Laval in Sainte–Foy, Quebec, and has had additional French studies in Paris, France. Miss Fischer teaches French to students in grades K – 12, and offers piano lessons after school to interested students. Miss Fischer attends Potomac Baptist Church in Sterling, Virginia.
Benjamin Garber joined FCS in the fall of 2018 as a High School teacher. He is a graduate of George Mason University with a degree in Spanish. Mr. Garber's also specializes is mathematics. In addition, he has a passion for English and philosophy. He attends Chantilly Bible Church, where he attends the Spanish-language Sunday School class, and sings in the choir.
Professor Eric Lambert joined FCS in 1996, he launched our Dual Enrollment program with Christianity 246 and has an extensive background working with English language learners. Mr. Lambert did his undergraduate work at Washington Bible College and earned his Master of Divinity Degree from Denver Seminary. He was a Chaplain for 21 years in the U.S. Army and pastored two churches, for a combined ten years. In his spare time, Mr. Lambert has done extensive research on the Lost Tribes of Israel and the Actual Location of the Temple in Jerusalem. He and his wife attend Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, Virginia.
Dr. David Lochbihler teaches fourth grade at the Fairfax Christian School. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame and cum laude from the University of Texas School of Law, Dr. Lochbihler worked as a Chicago attorney for three years before becoming a teacher and coach. His varsity basketball and soccer teams captured four NVIAC conference championships from 2002-2006. Recently ordained, David currently serves as a Deacon at St. Patrick’s Orthodox Church in Bealeton.
Mrs. Phyllis Locklar joined FCS in August 2009, she teaches Physical Education. Mrs. Locklar loves spending time outdoors and is working toward acquiring her license as a therapy dog handler. She and her family are members of Providence Baptist Church in McLean.
Jenny Han McCambridge
Mrs. Jenny McCambridge has been the Admissions Director Fairfax Christian School since 2017. Mrs. McCambridge completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Rochester, then further pursued her thirst for knowledge at the University of Miami Law School. She went on to earn her J.D. and LL.M. from New York University School of Law. Prior to making a career in academics, Mrs. McCambridge practiced international tax law for 15 years. She is a native of New York that has made her home here in northern Virginia for the past 10 years. She, her husband and their four children currently live in McLean where they attend St. Luke Catholic Church.
Mr. David McElfresh joined FCS in the fall of 2010. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from George Mason University and continued his postgraduate study at the University of Pittsburgh. He was born and raised in Northern Virginia and is happily married for over 20 years. He and his wife attend Dayspring Mennonite Church where he serves as a Sunday School teacher.
Ken L. Miller
Mr. Ken Miller began teaching at the Fairfax Christian School in 2005. He is also a Bus Driver and is the Bus Route Coordinator. He graduated from Rhema Bible Training College and Life Christian University, with a Master’s Degree in Theology. Mr. Miller is the Pastor at Abiding Life Grace & Faith Church in Sterling, Virginia.
Mrs. Joyce Seto has been with the Fairfax Christian School since the fall of 2015. Mrs. Seto is an Academic Advisor, her role is to maintain open lines of communication between students, their parent and the school. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a degree in Production Management. She and her husband Ray have been blessed with four kids. Their oldest child, Grace, is an FCS graduate from the class of 2016, their other three children currently attend Fairfax Christian School. Mrs. Seto and her family are members of the Chinese Christian Church in Northern Virginia, she helps with teaching the three to six year–old children’s worship.
Mr. Joseph Sun has worked at the Fairfax Christian School since the fall of 2011. He studied at Virginia Tech and is a proud Hokie to this day. He is the International Admissions Director, primarily handling admissions from Chinese-speaking countries. He guides students and their parents through the admissions process and remains in contact with them throughout the academic year. Developing an understanding of the families’ aspirations and goals helps him to facilitate the outcome they desire for their children. Mr. Sun and his wife have two sons, they have attended the Fairfax Christian School since Kindergarten. The Suns are members of the Chinese Christian Church in Northern Virginia, they are all involved with the various church choir programs.
David L. Thoburn
David Thoburn is the Chief Administrator and Vice President for the Fairfax Christian School. David is also the founder of Thoburn Press which has published Christian books and Christian school curriculum. He has sold over 500,000 copies of the McGuffey’s Readers. An alumnus of the Fairfax Christian School Class of 1973, David attended Fairfax Christian College and George Mason University. He is married to Jo Thoburn. They have seven children and three grandchildren and are members at Reston Presbyterian Church (RPC).
Jo A. S. Thoburn
Before being selected to head the Fairfax Christian School in 2001, Mrs. Thoburn owned two businesses in northern Virginia. She also has worked and served on the board of directors and advisory boards for several non-profit organizations in the Washington, D.C. area. She has written on education issues, American culture and free enterprise. She has been a speaker at educational conferences and to parent and student groups in North America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. A graduate of Virginia Tech, she lives in Vienna, Virginia, with her husband David. They have seven children and three grandchildren and are members at Reston Presbyterian Church (RPC).
Rosemary S. Thoburn
Miss Rosemary Thoburn, Fairfax Christian School Class of 2008, is our Dean of Students. She is the granddaughter of the school’s founders and has worked for the school in various capacities for fourteen years. In her role as Dean of Students, Miss Thoburn works with students and parents to improve their overall school experience. One of her favorite duties is encouraging the joy of learning inside and outside of the classroom through special events. She attends church with her family and is a member at Reston Presbyterian Church (RPC).
Mr. Aaron Thurston joined FCS in the summer of 2009. He graduated from Lynchburg College with a Bachelor of Art degree in History with minors in Secondary Education and Political Science. Mr. Thurston is also the coach for Boys’ Middle School Flag Football, Girls’ Basketball, Girls’ Soccer and Girls’ Volleyball. He also helps out with the History Bowl Team, IT work, and bus driving. Mr. Thurston is active in Loudoun Soccer and is a Loudoun County native, an area that fostered his interest in history and teaching from a young age. One of his ancestors was featured in the AMC series Turn: Washington’s Spies and is credited with the capture of Benedict Arnold.
Mrs. Wilhelm has been with Fairfax Christian School since 2005. Over her time at the Fairfax Christian School, she has taught Kindergarten through the 4th grade, Business Math, 6th grade Math, ESL History, ESL Speech, and Speech and Debate. Mrs. Wilhelm moved here from California with her husband and two children in 2005. While in California she taught grades Kindergarten (4-year-olds) through the 4th grade. She received her Bachelor of Art from California Baptist University and continued her education through the University of Phoenix. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her children and granddaughter. She also likes to travel, go to the beach, watch basketball, and play volleyball. Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm are currently attending Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, Virginia.
Michael J. Williams
Michael “Spike” Williams joined the Fairfax Christian School as the Communications Director in early 2017. Mr. Williams works closely with our President & CEO and the other members of our staff to manage FCS communications, both internal and external. He and his wife have hosted international students over the last five school years. Mr. Williams has a background in the telecommunications and technology sectors and co-owns Williams Realty LLC with his wife, Julie. In 2011, Mr. Williams received the Republican nomination and ran for Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Mr. Williams and his family attend Floris United Methodist Church.
