Students entering third through twelfth grades are expected to participate in our summer reading program. Students will receive five extra credit points in English per quarter for each book read. Extra credit will be given for up to four books.

Student should choose up to four books listed on their grade level. Most books are available online or paper copies may be borrowed from the school.

Extra Credit Guidelines

Students in 3rd through 6th grade must write a 200 word summary book report. Students in 7th through 12th grade should write a 500 word summary book report. All reports should include information on the following:

• The setting — What is the location of the story, real or imaginary?
• The time period — When does the story take place: past, present or future?
• The characters — Who is the main character and who else is in the story? Why are they important and how do they interact?
• The plot—What are the important and significant events in the story and why are they important?
• Your opinion — Did you like the book?
